This Privacy Statement describes the types of personal information we obtain about you when you visit Western Union’s Developer Portal (“Developer Portal”), how we use the information, with whom we may share it and the choices available to you regarding our use of the information. We also describe the measures we take to safeguard the personal information and how you can contact us about our privacy practices.

Information We Obtain

We obtain certain personal information in connection with our Developer Portal, including:

  • contact information, such as name, email and postal address, and phone number;
  • login credentials;
  • employer, job title and other professional information; and
  • other personal information you submit to us, such as through emails or other communications, or sign-up forms.

In addition, when you visit our Developer Portal, we may obtain certain information by automated means, such as cookies, web server logs, web beacons, and other technologies. A “cookie” is a text file that websites send to a visitor’s computer or other Internet-connected device to uniquely identify the visitor’s browser or to store information or settings in the browser. A “web beacon,” also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF, links web pages to web servers and cookies and may be used to transmit information collected through cookies back to a web server.

We may use these automated technologies on our Developer Portal to collect information about your equipment, browsing actions, and usage patterns. The information we obtain in this manner may include your device IP address, identifiers associated with your devices, types of devices connected to our Developer Portal, web browser characteristics, device characteristics, language preferences, referring/exit pages, clickstream data, and dates and times of visits to our Developer Portal. These technologies help us (1) remember your information so you do not have to re-enter it; (2) track and understand how you use and interact with our Developer Portal; (3) tailor the Developer Portal around your preferences; (4) measure the usability of our Developer Portal and the effectiveness of our communications; and (5) otherwise manage and enhance our services, and help ensure they are working properly.

How We Use The Information We Obtain

We process your personal information to provide you with our Developer Portal, in line with our contractual obligations.

We may use the information described above to pursue our legitimate interests in optimizing the Developer Portal and maintaining our relationship with and protecting our users. We will process your information for the following purposes:

  • Personalize your experience with the Developer Portal;
  • send you promotional materials, newsletters and other communications;
  • create and manage your account with the Western Union Partnership Program;
  • respond to your inquiries;
  • perform analytics to understand how you interact with the Developer Portal and improve your experience;
  • operate, evaluate and improve our business (including developing new services; enhancing, improving and analyzing our services; managing our communications; and performing accounting, auditing and other internal functions);
  • protect against, identify and prevent fraud, copyright infringement, unauthorized use and distribution of protected content and other criminal activity; and

Third-Party Analytics

We may use third-party web analytics services on our Developer Portal, such as those of Google Analytics. These vendors help us analyze how visitors use the Developer Portal. Interest-Based Advertising

On our Developer Portal, we may obtain information about your online activities to provide you with advertising about services tailored to your interests. This section of our Privacy Statement provides details and explains how to exercise your choices.

You may see our ads on other websites because we use third-party ad services. Through such ad services, we can target our messaging to users considering demographic data, users’ inferred interests and browsing context. These services track your online activities over time and across multiple websites by collecting information through automated means, including through the use of cookies, web server logs, web beacons and other similar technologies. The ad services use this information to show you ads that may be tailored to your individual interests. The information ad services may collect includes data about your visits to websites that serve Western Union advertisements, such as the pages or ads you view and the actions you take on the websites. This data collection takes place both on our Developer Portal and other Western Union websites, and on third-party websites that participate in these ad services. This process also helps us track the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

Our Developer Portal is not designed to respond to “do not track” signals from browsers.

Information We Share

We may disclose personal information we obtain about you to our affiliates or subsidiaries. Data Transfers

The privacy practices of the relevant third parties, including details on the information they may collect about you, is subject to the privacy statements of these parties, which we strongly suggest you review. To the extent any linked online services or third-party features are not owned or controlled by Western Union, we are not responsible for these third parties’ information practices.

Updates To Our Privacy Statement

This Privacy Statement may be updated periodically and to reflect changes in our personal information practices. We will post a notice on the Developer Portal to notify you of significant changes to our Privacy Statement and indicate at the top of the Privacy Statement when it was most recently updated.
